  • 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
  • Spine Indie Bookstore & Café at 1976-82 Arsenal St.

Come see three of the best authors in St. Louis at the SLPA Authors Summer Series at Spine Indie Bookstore & Café!

On August 14, these authors will discuss their published books, be interviewed by local author and Spine founder Mark Pannebecker, and answer questions from the audience:

  • Darian Wigfall, author of A Dying Breed, the story of a talented 10-year-old artist who is deeply affected by family and friends who deal drugs, and who gets caught up in the violence that is an integral part of gang life. As soon as he thinks he has made it past one trap, he gets caught again in a constant battle between his dreams and the reality that surrounds him.

  • Michael Kuelker, author of The Ozark Mountain Daredevils on Record, which tells the story of the popular Springfield, Missouri-based country rock band from their emergence in the 1970s on A&M Records through to the present day. Kuelker amassed dozens of hours of interviews with all six founding members and many other band members and insiders to create a rich portrait. This presentation will include music, including some you may never have heard!

  • Dixie Gillaspie, author of The Truth About Winter. Discover the magic of transformative stories, the way they transform our lives as writers and readers, and the ways we can use the writing process to open ourselves to truth and, ultimately, wholeness. While Dixie Gillaspie’s latest bestselling novel is written as fiction, it is semi-autobiographical, tracing her journey from a childhood of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse through years of denial and finally to a blindingly brilliant revelation about the truth that was hiding beneath her pain. Dixie will discuss the backstory behind the writing of the book, what it takes to confront your truth and turn it into a story that can serve yourself and others, and her writing process. If you love memoir, transformation, spiritual exploration, or writing as a path to return to one’s truth and power you want to be in the room for this event.
This event will also feature a free raffle to win gift certificates to Spine Indie Bookstore & Café (limit one entry per attendee). Authors’ books will be available for purchase.
Spine Indie Bookstore & Café is located at 1976-82 Arsenal St.
